This studio offers vocal technique for the singer and singing actor, preparation for auditions and performance, and support and motivation for the beginning singer. Through a flexible approach to posture, breathing and diction, students gain ease and flow in singing. They experience expanded range and dynamics, clearer tone, and increased breath management. As skills develop, singers achieve greater expression and depth of performance.

A voice instructor with thirty years experience, Rebecca is also an active choral conductor. Currently, she leads the Chicago Bar Association Chorus. Rebecca has appeared as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Light Opera Works, and Masterworks Chorale (NY).

The healthiest way to sing is also the most natural, and that is "talking on a tune" -- tone produced through a free jaw with a firm hook-up to the source of air pressure, the way a healthy speaking voice is produced.

I teach classical and musical theatre repertoire, and sacred as well as Christian contemporary.

Expertise/Specialty: Classical, Musical Theater, and some jazz
Musical Styles Taught: Classical, Musical Theatre, Other
Education: The Philadelphia Curtis Institute, Juilliard, M.M. Northwestern University, 5 years DM Completed at Northwestern University
Memberships/Affiliations: National Association of Teachers of Singing, American Music Teachers Association

My teaching style is "bel canto" (florid singing) which keeps a singer's voice young and fresh for many years. I prefer working with singers who are interested in developing vocal careers. However, I will listen to very young singers (10 - 12 year-olds) who exhibit potential in either classical or musical theater genres. My students can be found at Juilliard, singing in Paris and London, and in most major colleges and universities. I audition potential students and, if accepted, expect them to take a minimum of four lessons, at which time we evaluate if future lessons would be mutually beneficial.
