I am a mezzo-soprano performing oratorio and chamber music in the Twin Cities metro area. In addition, I am the artistic director of Ladyslipper Ensemble and am on the faculty of McNally Smith College of Music. Also, I have been on the voice faculties at the New England Conservatory Division of Preparatory and Continuing Education, Wellesley College, Salve Regina University, Phillips Exeter Academy, as well College of St. Benedict/St. John's University.
In my studio, I create an atmosphere of trust and ease so that students are free enough to explore and ask questions. Something that is an important part of my teaching is simplifying and clarifying the basics. Being able to grasp a concept is a confidence builder for students. Then, they can thrive and approach their practice sessions with joy. Therefore, they continue to make progress and are proud of the work they do, having both artistry and a sound technical foundation.
My students have been accepted into the undergraduate and graduate programs at New England Conservatory, Cleveland Institute of Music, Eastman School of Music, New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Boston, Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon and Roosevelt Universities, Ithaca, Smith, St Olaf and Concordia Colleges, Longy School of Music of Bard College, Berklee College of Music, as well as College of St. Benedict/St. John's University. Also, several of them have spent summers with the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and have appeared on National Public Radio's From the Top. Others have participated in the summer programs at Santa Fe, Portland and Salzburg and have performed in masterclasses with Jose van Dam, Elly Ameling, Warren Jones and Mary Dibbern.
